The ANCHORED Framework
DUAL PRACTICES FOR MENTAL FITNESS
-
THINK…
Development of self-awareness, paired with recognizing your inner thoughts and dialogue, make-up the essential first pillar of the Anchored Framework. Practiced along with Reflection through writing, you are able to consider DEEPLY what thoughts (and therefore feelings) are driving your life. The tool here is thinking; on using our very own brains without input from other sources.
-
WRITE…
Put simply, this pillar challenges us to think about our thinking. While we observe through AWARENESS, we REFLECT by writing down what we observe, and evaluating what is found. This fundamental practice allows for asking hard questions, looking for patterns, making connections, and unearthing hidden motives (just to name a few)!
-
LEARN…
Reframing takes the discoveries from AWARENESS and REFLECTION, and modifies them to bring about greater health and mental fitness. Here is where we make meaningful and intentional changes to our thoughts, that will in turn bring forth changes to our actions in everyday life.
This pillar also includes adding new information and ideas through the pursuit of knowledge that might grow and expand our thinking.
-
CREATE…
Action is how we metabolize our thinking. This fourth pillar asks, “what will you do with this new understanding and perspective?”
A key shift here is the focus on CREATION over CONSUMPTION. Our minds need exercise, and this is achieved through making outward change and living into our God-given role as creators.
We take what is known in the mind and create something of value to ourselves and/or the people around us. Action through creation looks different for everyone, and we are all equipped for our own version of this mental fitness pillar.
